#reCAPTCHA - You may soon need to use your webcam to solve Google’s Captcha’s - users have reported being asked to use hand gestures for verification - with their hand movements being analyzed to spot humans and block AI bots.
#Microsoft - A leaked video reveals Microsoft's exploration of a dedicated AI OS, codenamed Aion, built around Microsoft Edge and a lightweight Windows codebase called Win3. The project, showcased in a 3-minute walkthrough, features a new desktop UI powered by Copilot and multi-modal input.
#Meta - Meta conducted a secretive program, "Cannes," which used hundreds of contractors posing as teenagers to test competitors' AI models, including OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini, with disturbing prompts on suicide, cannibalism, and other sensitive topics.
#Amazon - Amazon's Mechanical Turk crowdsourcing service will stop accepting new customers on July 30, 2026, citing maintenance and eventual retirement. The platform, launched in 2005, allowed users to post gigs for workers to bid on, but has reportedly been declining in popularity and facing criticism from users over account closures and lack of explanation from Amazon.
