Good morning, it's a brand-new Monday! Let's make it count!

Geek Gossip

#Google - Google lost a court case against Hindware - the sanitary supplies brand. The issue - Google Adwords allowed Hindware’s competitors to bid for “Hindware” keyword - causing folks that searched for the brand to instead see its competitors offerings. The win here though isn’t this one brand alone - countless companies (read startups) had to invest heavily on their brands’ keywords on Google Adwords only to prevent their competitor from using their trademark. A small step for Hindware, a giant leap for the entire ecosystem.

#BraveBrowser - This one’s hilarious! There’s a proverb that goes when you point a finger at others you forget that there are fingers pointing right back at you - and this is true in the case of Brave Browser. The browser was mocking Firefox’s default settings for having advertisements - only to be pointed out that Brave Browser’s own out of hte box experience is packed with sponsored content.

#GithubCopilot - Watch Out! If you have been using Githug Copilot, today onward, the pricing is token based (v/s the earlier subscription based). There’s a big hue and cry being raised about it - but on closer inspection the folks affected the most seem to be vibe coders that didn’t know coding and dont optimize their prompts.
