RBI Cracks Down On Simpl Fintech
Bengaluru-based Simpl, a popular Buy-Now-Pay-Later (BNPL) fintech, has been ordered by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to halt all payment operations due to lack of regulatory authorisation. Simpl's founder-director, Nithyanand Sharma, is also facing ED investigations for foreign exchange irregularities worth ₹914 crore.
Data Leak Detected (And Fixed) In Indian Bank Transfers
UpGuard has discovered a public Amazon S3 storage bucket containing over 273,000 documents detailing bank transfers in India. Each file documented a single transaction, revealing unredacted bank account numbers, transaction amounts, and in many of the files, relevant individuals’ names, phone numbers and email addresses. The exposed dataset affected accounts at dozens of Indian banks and financial institutions, as well as thousands of individuals.
Google Unifies ChromeOS And Android
Google is merging its Chrome OS and Android operating systems, with Android emerging as the victorious platform. Google's president for the Android ecosystem, Sameer Samat, announced the move, citing the potential for accelerated AI advancements and seamless integration with laptops.
Meta Introduces Ad-free Option In UK
Something to closely observe and monitor, since it could have ramifications across the world. Facebook and Instagram to introduce Subscription for no ads in the UK. This will give people based in UK the choice between continuing to use Facebook and Instagram for free with personalised ads, or subscribing.
