Geek Gossip

#MadhyaPradeshHighCourt - The High Court of the Indian State of Madhya Pradesh has stopped live-streaming hearings to protect local lawyers from ridicule on social media. The state judiciary streamed many criminal cases live online, but a chap named Arihant Tiwari found the practice odious. The court hasn't reached a final decision but did order its Registry to stop live streaming bench hearings and criminal cases until it resolves the matter.

#LiquidGlass - iOS 26 with its Liquid Glass update is rolling out to all devices - but there’s a disclaimer from Apple - that this update may worsen your iPhone’s battery life. That’s right - Apple admits that new features sometimes consume more power. The company promises that the impact on performance and battery life should be small.

Miscellaneous

Finally Safe Array Methods In Javascript
In JavaScript, traditional methods like .sort() .reverse() and .splice() mutate the array they’re called on. This can lead to unexpected behavior when updating state, because mutating arrays directly doesn’t trigger re-renders. In React, immutability is key for triggering state updates and preserving predictability. ES2023 introduces non-mutating array methods: toSorted(), toReversed(), and toSpliced() to avoid bugs in React and other apps with shared state.

UX Strategies For Real Time Dashboards
Karan Rawal explores strategic UX patterns that shorten time-to-decision. Real-time dashboards are now critical decision-making tools in industries like logistics, manufacturing, finance, and healthcare. But many of them fail to help users make timely and confident decisions.

Becoming The Person Who Does The Thing
A software developer's mindset can shift with new experiences and perspectives, much like a changing operating system. Beliefs about the world and one's role in it can be transformed through small, daily actions, like starting a workout routine, and new identities can emerge, shaping our approach to life and work.
